1. Overview

HMT Group (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates FamilyHub at https://familycommander.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our Service. We take your privacy seriously, especially when it comes to family and children's data.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided). Authentication is handled by Clerk — we do not store passwords.

Family Data

We store the family data you choose to enter into the Service, including calendar events, chores, meals, shopping lists, household rules, chat messages, and child profile information (names, ages, settings). This data is private to your family and not shared with other users or families.

Google Account Data

If you choose to connect your Google account, we access the following data from Google's APIs:

• Google Calendar:We read and write calendar events to sync your family's schedule. We access your calendar event titles, dates, times, descriptions, and attendees.
• Google Photos: If you enable the Photos feature, we access your Google Photos albums to display them as screensaver content on your family display.
• Account identity: We access your Google account email address and stable account identifier to link your Google account to your FamilyHub profile.

Google API Limited Use Disclosure:FamilyHub's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data to serve advertising, and we do not allow humans to read your Google data except for security investigations or as required by law.

Usage Data

We collect standard server logs (IP addresses, request paths, timestamps, browser type) for security, debugging, and service improvement purposes. These logs are retained for 30 days.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the Service
• Sync your Google Calendar events with FamilyHub's shared calendar
• Display Google Photos in the family screensaver feature (if enabled)
• Send push notifications you have opted in to receive
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a Neon PostgreSQL database hosted in the United States. We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption in transit and encrypted database connections. Access tokens for third-party services (Google, etc.) are stored encrypted at rest.

Despite our security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Children's Privacy

FamilyHub allows parents and guardians to create child profiles for minors within a family account. Child profiles are managed by the account owner (parent/guardian) and are not directly accessible to children without the parent's permission. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental consent.

Parents can delete child profiles and all associated data at any time through the Settings page or by contacting us.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate FamilyHub:

• Clerk — authentication and user management
• Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting
• Vercel — application hosting and deployment
• Google APIs — Calendar and Photos integration (optional)
• Anthropic Claude API— AI-powered features (meal suggestions, recipe generation). Data sent to Claude is not used to train Anthropic's models.
• Pusher — real-time messaging

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — update or correct inaccurate data through the app settings
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@familycommander.com
• Disconnect Google— revoke FamilyHub's access to your Google account at any time through Settings → Integrations. You can also revoke access directly through your Google Account permissions.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate security purposes.

Google Calendar and Photos data obtained via Google APIs is used only to provide the real-time Service features and is not retained beyond what is necessary to operate those features.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by posting a notice within the Service. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
